Children are an important part of worship at Central Church. Following Jesus’ words “let the children come unto me,” we provide a variety of opportunities which connect children with God. Our hope is that children will feel they have an important place in worship and among God’s people. Contact Erica Kozlowski for more information.
Acolytes
Acolytes light and extinguish worship candles for the 11:00 worship service. This training takes place during the 3rd grade Bible class and offers another opportunity for our children to be active participants in worship.
Cherub Choir & Choristers
Our children's choirs perform each week during the 11 am service. Cherubs, K-2, performs the first Sunday and Choristers, 3-5 grade, performs the 3rd Sunday. The Cherub Choir will be introduced to the beginning singing technique, learn songs that will grow in difficulty throughout the year to help the kids grow and learn music skills. The Chorister Choir will be introduced to beginning singing technique and beginning music reading skills, learn songs and introduce harmonies and part-singing. Most importantly, having fun while singing. Rehearsal is on Wednesday evenings for both choirs. Performance warm-up is Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. for the choir that is performing. Come make a joyful noise! Contact, Claire Olinik.
Seasonal Offerings:
Palm Processional - Sunday, April 14, 2019
On the Sunday before Easter at the beginning of the 11:00 service, children participate in a short re-creation of Jesus entering Jerusalem by waving palms and joining the congregation in chanting "Hosanna". Following children's time, children are invited to join an escorted Palm Processional through Downtown Traverse City to share Christ's love and awareness of the Palm Sunday holiday.
Christmas Eve Live Nativity
Children recreate the Nativity story through costumes, music and narration. The abundant supply of Central costumes ensures that all interested children will be included, providing lasting memories and many photo opportunities.
