Central Church has been active in Kids Hope USA since November 2010. This is a national program aimed at mentoring at-risk children in local elementary schools. Currently, more than 12,000 children are being mentored by church members nationwide. The organization involves a single church committing itself to provide one-on-one mentors to a single elementary school. Central Church is affiliated with Willow Hill Elementary, located a mile northwest of Munson Hospital. Each mentor meets his or her assigned child one hour each week at the school during the academic year. Each mentor and child are supported by an individual prayer partner who makes a commitment to faithfully pray for them each week.
During the 2015-2016 school year, 25 members from Central have served as mentors to children at Willow Hill. However, the school staff has already identified more children for whom they would like us to provide mentors starting in the fall. We as a congregation are rich in people who are looking for ways to offer their skills of hope and kindness and this is an area in which the need is increasingly evident. Please consider joining us in offerlng our special Central Church love and support to children who need us. The opportunity is vast. The need is great. The idea is simple. One Child, One Hour, One Church, One School. You could be the one. For more information contact Dave Rorabacher or call 946-6108 or Kathy van Houwelingen or call 933-4312.
