Rev. Dale Ostema came to Central UMC in July of 2007. Over the past twenty years Dale has served churches in Northern Michigan. His prior appointments include Baldwin, Charlevoix and Cadillac United Methodist Churches. Dale loves living in the northern part of the state and enjoys spending free time, out-of-doors, in God's awesome creation.

Dale is married to Debbie and they have three Children, Jay, Alison & Chloe. Dale and Debbie are graduates of Michigan State University with degrees in education. Both have worked in the field of Special Education. After teaching for a few years, Dale's sense of God's call to ministry became irresistible. It was then that he entered seminary at The Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

Connecting people to God's love in Jesus Christ is at the heart of Dale's ministry. Through preaching, teaching, and just talking with others, Dale hopes to share the amazing grace God has for all people. The thing that excites Dale the most is seeing others embrace and live out their own call to ministry. He loves seeing so many active people at Central doing what God is empowering them to do in the church and community.

Rev. Tamara Williams

Rev. Tamara Williams came to Central UMC in July, 2002, as the first Associate Pastor the church has had in many years. She previously served for nine years as the Associate Pastor of the Stevensville UMC in Stevensville, Michigan, and for five years as the Senior Pastor of the Chesapeake Charge (Cedar Grove and Oakland UMCs) in Deale, Maryland. Tamara's husband, Rev. Jeremy Williams, is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Traverse Bay UMC in Traverse City, and their son, Caleb Williams, is in his junior year at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. He is studying music and serving as the Music Director at Genesis United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids. Tamara's love for God and personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ began with a conversion experience she had as a teenager, after some teenaged friends told her what faith in Christ meant to them. This beginning led not only to a call into ordained ministry, but a deep passion for ministry with and for youth. Under her leadership here at Central, an ever-increasing number of junior and senior high youth and adults are working together to grow a strong small-group-based youth ministry -- a safe haven for youth to discover their own faith in Christ, and what it means to live that faith each day. Tamara's other passions include preaching, participating in group Bible studies, helping people in the church discover God's purposes for their life, organizing systems for ministry and mission, and simply being with others.
