Join this Sunday morning Grow Group to connect with a more contemplative side of yourself. You’ll find a group of people that will welcome you in and encourage you as each of you follow a path to grow closer to God and to community. This winter, the group will study the book, Revival, by Adam Hamilton. Have you wondered why John Wesley, an Anglican Priest, would be drawn to a different way to approach the world's problems? Through the study, discover how John Wesley's message and his faith continue to speak to 21st-century Christians—calling for a revival of our hearts and souls so that our world might be changed. Books are available for $10. Leaders: Kathy Mead, Ali Thornton and Frank Fellows.
Love to Stay
6:30-8:30 Sunday evenings in the Lounge (February 11,18,25)
Drawing upon a survey of thousands of couples and singles, interviews with relationship and marriage therapists, the latest research in the field, and wisdom from the Bible, Pastor Adam Hamilton looks at what it takes to create and sustain healthy, meaningful romantic relationships across the course of a lifetime. Be a part of this Sunday evening discussion with your significant other and recommit to one another through intentionally thinking about some of the challenges experienced in long term, committed relationships. Open to gay and straight couples, married or considering marriage. Leaders: Pastor Chris and Pastor Jane. Watch 1 minute video clip.
A Bead and a Prayer
6:30-7:30pm on Mondays (January 29-March 5) or
Noon-1:00 Thursdays (January 25-March 1)
In 2018, consider a different way to think about prayer to help center you in your own spiritual journey. Prayer beads have been used for generations by our Catholic brothers and sisters, but are not very familiar for many of us that haven’t had a Catholic upbringing. Join us as we make our own set of prayer beads and work through a Bible study that will help introduce the history and instruction on how to use the beads in our own prayer life. A suggested donation of $12 covers the cost of the book and all materials for the bead making. The first session will be for bead making and an introduction to the study and each other. Leader: Alline Beutler.
Tuesday Evening Bible Study
5:30-6:30 in the Lounge
For the past several years, this weekly Bible study group has worked through the books of the Bible one by one. Even if you haven’t joined them in the past, there is room for you! Join this fall for a study on the book of Luke. Books are available for $10 in the church office. Leader: Eldon Horner.
Wired Word
6:25-7:25 Wednesday evenings in the Lounge
Wired Word is led by several different people on a rotating basis
Join us for this discussion using stories from the headlines as the focus. Each week there will be a different key story that we will explore by applying scripture references to figure out how we can learn from the situation as Christians, and where we find hope.
Building Better Moms
6:25-7:25 Wednesday evenings in room 304
Come to a place that meets you right where you’re at as a mom, a woman, and a friend. Together we will learn how to be better equipped as a parent through study, activities and discussion. Each week we will grow through a supportive network of moms who “get” it — from newborns to teens. Our theme word for this year is Embrace. Our focus verse this year is Mark 22:11 Embrace this life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. We will use this key verse to help guide our discussions and programming. Leaders: Amber Hassler and Alline Beutler
Forgiveness: Finding Peace Through Letting Go (Feb. 21,28 and Mar. 7)
6:25-7:25 Wednesday evenings in room 306
During Lent, join Pastor Chris and others in exploring the concept of forgiveness. The author of the study, Pastor Adam Hamilton, equates our need to forgive and be forgiven with carrying a backpack filled with rocks. Over time the tiny pebbles and giant boulders weigh us down and break more than our spirit. During this three week discussion, the focus will be on finding the freedom and peace that come with truly forgiving, even when the person who need to be forgiven is ourselves. Books are available for $10.
The Men’s Room
7:00-8:00 on the first and third Thursday evenings of the month in the Lounge
This winter, the group will be reading the book The Elder Within The Source of Mature Masculinity. The second half of a man’s life can be an adventure in eldership: a life of stewardship instead of exploitation; of fostering consensus instead of competition; of spiritual expression instead of a lust for power; of mentoring rather than directing. Eldership is wisdom in an active state utilized on behalf of others. Join in for a great opportunity to form community with other men in your on a similar journey. Used copies of the book can be purchased on Amazon. Leaders: Pastor Chris and Dave Wallace.
Transforming Discipleship
12:00-1:00 Fridays in room 306
Leaders: Pastor Chris and Diane Morrison
What does it mean to be an authentic Christ-Follower? This group will support each other along their faith journey by exploring themes such as knowing who you are, experiencing the God who heals, and discovering community together. Books are available for $10 in the church office.
