A Letter on Missions Sunday From The Missions Committee
Greetings friends,
Your Mission Committee is choosing 2024 to make a “big impact” on food insecurity and homelessness in the Grand Traverse area, and we are asking you to think “BIG” with us! Missions Ministry at Central embodies our church motto “reaching beyond our doors” with these ministries and agencies.
Our appeal happens twice annually, June and December, for these funds to sustain our Mission Ministry initiatives, and sixty percent remains in the Grand Traverse area. Your donation supports ministries that impact all ages and a wide spectrum of cultures, both locally and globally.
Missions focus on three areas:
- Healthcare and education: We equip healthy families by supporting clinics, schools, birthing centers, nutrition programs, and clean water.
- Caring, feeding, and housing vulnerable people in the Grand Traverse region and Detroit: We support people experiencing homelessness and financial insecurity with meals, counseling, shelter, and refuge from domestic violence.
- Social and mental wellness: We promote organizations concerned with mental health and treatment, as well as grief support for youth, adults, and families experiencing loss.
God invites us to reach beyond our doors and embody generosity:
“There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to your neighbors in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbors (Deuteronomy 15: 11 ).
“Your support of Central’s Mission projects puts generosity into practice and reflects Christ’s love for your neighbor.
