Who: All Are Welcome. Join us for our Community Chili Cook–Off in partnership with Traverse Bay UMC to support local social impact organizations.

Where: The chili cook–off will be in the Fellowship Hall at 5 PM on 1/15/2025

When: Folks can sign up to participate after church services on Sunday, 12/22/24, and 12/29/24, or email Sarah Drews at sarah@tccentralumc.org. Once you sign up, they can bring their chili entries to the fellowship hall on Weds. 1/15/25 between 3 and 4:30 pm. The dinner will commence at 5 pm.

What: A chili cook–off where there will be two winners (one from the vegetarian category and one from the meat category), both of whom can pick from the list of local non-profits to donate half of the donations.

We are excited to kick-off our new Music Midweek Series featuring The Horns of Traverse (Julie Schleif’s ensemble).  Join us for wonderful music and conversation from artists who share their intersectional stories of faith and artistry in music. Make sure to stay tuned for upcoming events in this new series. This event will take place the 3rd Wednesday of every month, enjoy music and stories from artists from our community here in Traverse City & beyond!

We are trying something new this year with Disciple 1.  Alline Beutler and Darcy Dewling will be leading the 12 -week Fast Track Old Testament study in 2 6-week segments. If all goes to plan, we will then offer the New Testament Class in the Fall of 2025.

Chapters 1-6: Thursdays, October 10 – November 14, 2024 at 6pm

Chapters 7-13: Thursdays, April 10 – May 15, 2025 at 6pm

Disciple Fast Track, an adaptation of the original, bestselling Disciple Bible Study, provides a viable option for busy people seeking comprehensive engagement over time with the entire biblical text. Fast Track groups meet for a total of 24 weeks, devoting 12 weeks each to the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Participants read a manageable 3-5 chapters of the Bible daily in preparation for the weekly meetings, which last approximately 75-90 minutes.
