About the Mission – Central’s Youth Mission Trip 2023 to Cass Community in Detroit, MI
Teenagers might be more connected than ever with what’s happening around the world, but pulling them from their typical context helps them understand that the world is larger that their daily lives would have them believe. Beyond broadening perspectives, mission trips demand that teenagers participate. Painting a house, playing with kids, serving a meal, sleeping on an air mattress, experiencing a new culture – these are a few examples of ways comfort zones are crossed. Central’s Youth Mission Team is gearing up for a summer trip to Cass Community Social Services in Detroit and your support is needed! Central’s Youth and adult leaders will serve at Cass Community in Detroit on Sunday, July 30th, through Sunday, August 6th. Cass Community is a community that fights poverty, creates opportunities for those who otherwise would be unemployed, and builds community. We will serve the poor, experience Detroit, work with our hands, encourage others and grow in relationship with the people we meet.
MENU: Porcupine Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes, Mission Team Salads and Cheese Blintzes
NO PRE-REGISTRATION IS NEEDED TO ATTEND THIS MEAL! Suggested donation at the meal is $10/person.
All proceeds from this meal will go directly to the Kyle Sonnemann Youth Mission Scholarship fund. This fund was created in memory of Kyle, who during his short life on this earth and at Central Church, made a lasting impact on all those he connected with. Kyle loved to go on mission trips both as a student and a leader. His family continues to honor this memory by preparing his favorite meal to help raise awareness and funds for youth to continue this meaningful tradition at Central Church.
