Pick up the Hygiene and Student Kit shopping lists beginning Sunday, April 27, in the gathering space and return them full to the Lounge the week of May 12th or to the church’s back door on the morning of Serve Saturday, May 17th. (No registration needed) Please review the full shopping list attached below.

One terrycloth hand towel

One washcloth

One comb

One toenail or fingernail clipper

One bath-size bar of soap

One adult toothbrush

10 adhesive bandages
📦 Return completed kits to Central UMC Lounge by Saturday, May 17th, at 11 AM
🛠 Assembly Instructions (for Hygiene Kits)

Lay hand towel flat on a table.
-
Lay the washcloth in the center of the hand towel.
-
Place all remaining items on top of the washcloth (except the plastic bag).

Fold the sides of the hand towel to cover the items.
-
Grasp the bundle tightly and roll over the remainder of the towel.

Place the tightly rolled bundle in the plastic bag, remove air, and seal.

All items must be new.

Do not wash any of the items (they will no longer be considered new).

Do not include any personal notes, money, or additional materials.

Contents or containers should not have cartoon characters, advertisements, or religious, patriotic, military, or camouflage symbols.

Join a Group at the Church:
UMCOR Kit Sorting. A small team of volunteers is needed to check the Kits delivered the week prior to and the day of Serve Saturday, before they are sent to UMCOR. (4 people)
Join a Group at a location:
Reining Liberty Ranch Property Cleaning and Animal Interactions – Reining Liberty Ranch offers community-based programs that serve Veterans, their families, and other disabled/at-risk individuals within the Grand Traverse Community through horse-human therapy programing. Family friendly. From 9 am to noon. Clean-up projects and animal interactions. (20 volunteers)
Northport Methodist Indian Mission Church Spring Clean Up – 8 am travel, 9 am work start with lunch provided at noon. Support the annual spring clean up of the campground and cemetery. Please bring work gloves, and wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. (unlimited volunteers)
Our Neighbors Garden Prep of New Garden Rows and Planting – Our Neighbors Garden provides fresh grown vegetables to Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan for distribution to local food banks. Family friendly. From 9 am to noon. (4 volunteers)

UMCOR Hygiene Kits. Fill a Bag with all the items on the shopping list. Provide basic necessities to those who are most vulnerable during times of crisis. Hygiene Kits are distributed during disasters, whether socio-economic or as the result of a natural occurrence. These kits have been requested to resupply stock after providing hygiene items to Northern Michigan residents hit by this winter’s ice storm.
UMCOR Student Kits. Fill a grocery bag with all the items needed on the shopping list. Providing basic school supplies to children who are disadvantaged. These kits will be distributed by UMCOR to children in need before for the next school year.
Prayer Walk in Your Neighborhood – Take a walk around the block, or just down the street on Saturday morning. Be intentional with your time, as you pray over each home. Consider praying for health, comfort, peace, and other things that come over you as you consider each special home in your sphere of care. (unlimited volunteers)
Pray for Our Community – A guide book will be provided for those who wish to stay in the comfort of their home, or find a local coffee shop in which to pray over our community. Guidebooks will be available in the Gathering Space beginning April 27th. (unlimited volunteers)
