Group overview:
For the past seven years, Central’s Sunday Morning Pilgrimage discussion group, (that includes listening, reading, sharing, and interaction), has been meeting on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. – the hour between the Well Service and the Traditional Service. According to group leader, Kathy Mead, “It’s a very open ‘drop-in’ group that encourages attendees to be more intentional on our life-path journeys, and more appreciative of our world.” The group’s discussions are usually based on book content. However, reading isn’t mandatory and participants can find meaning by listening, sharing thoughts and life experiences.
Books and their authors vary and often include new Christian thinkers. Attendees are encouraged to explore new ideas and seek understanding in ways that are relevant to them. Conversations are confidential and the group meets in person in the Zoom Room at Central, and also has a Zoom option to allow access for those at home or out of town.
During June, July and August, the group becomes the Summer Book Study and meets outdoors on Wednesdays. Most often, a single book is chosen for the summer months. The group meets at a nearby park, porch, or pavilion where sharing feelings and contemplative thoughts have strengthened relationships with God and with other attendees.
Kathy Mead has attended Central for 12 years and has been leading the Sunday Morning Pilgrimage group since its inception. She’s a retired educator and taught history at Traverse City West High School.
Stop by the Zoom Room any Sunday at 10:00 a.m. or for more information contact Kathy Mead at: meadka09@gmail.com
