Justice for Our Neighbors Michigan is now Immigration Law & Justice Michigan (ILJ-MI)!
Different Name. Same Mission.
Immigration Law & Justice clearly defines the work we do and describes the people we serve. Our new logo the reflects hope, optimism, and opportunity that immigrants bring to Michigan communities.
What hasn’t changed? Central Church is as important to our mission of providing free immigration legal service throughout northern Michigan as ever! The generous hospitality, financial support, and opportunities for community education provided by Central Church allow ILJ-MI to continue serving immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking neighbors living in northern Michigan. From the first immigration legal services offered in January 2015 until today, we couldn’t be ILJ-MI without YOU!
Across the state, three sister congregations also host ILJ-MI offices at no cost – Grand Rapids First United Methodist Church, Dearborn First United Methodist Church, and Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church. Originally local ministries founded by Central Church and the other congregations, the four sites were merged into a statewide, independent, tax exempt, nonprofit organization in 2018 to provide administrative and
fundraising support to meet exploding client caseloads. This year, grants from the Michigan Conference, several UMC districts, congregational endowment funds, and gifts from United Methodist Churches and other faith communities will provide almost ten percent ILJ-MI’s donated income.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Central Church for your continued partnership. Please see our website to learn more about ILJ-MI and to donate to support our work. www.iljmi.org.
