About the Kyle Sonnemann Memorial Dinner on March 19 …
Prepared and served by the CUMC Mission Committee, other volunteers, and Central’s youth group, serving begins at 5:00 p.m. at the church Fellowship Hall. This ever-popular family meal will help fund Central’s Youth Mission Team as our high school students make plans for their summer mission adventure. Attendees can dine at the church; meals to go will be available. No registration is required and all donations will be used to support the mission trip. Dinner includes Bonnie Sonnemann’s specially prepared blintz, plus mashed potatoes, red sauce, meatballs, salad, and dessert. Our youth group will staff serving and cleanup.
Following the dinner, we hope you will join us in the Sanctuary for our special lecture series feature for our Music Midweek Series on Wednesday, March 19th from 6 pm to 7 pm in the Sanctuary at Central. This guest lecture series is a part of Music Midweek and will be featuring Rev. Sam McClellan & Rev. Wava Hofmann on sacred American Indian music and dance.
About the Kyle Sonnemann Mission Fund Scholarship …
The scholarship fund is named in honor of the late Kyle Sonnemann, son of John and Bonnie Sonnemann. Kyle was active as a youth in many programs, including mission trips at Central. Later, he served as a volunteer youth group and mission trip leader. Kyle passed away at the age of 28 due to complications from a medical issue. Donations for this mission will go directly to the Kyle Sonnemann Youth Mission Scholarship Fund. This fund helps provide financial assistance to Central Church youth in support of this summer’s mission adventure.
About this summer’s Youth Service Learning Trip
This year the trip stays local and collaborative- Youth from Central UMC, Lake Ann UMC, Northport UMC, Keswick UMC, Grace Episcopal & Elk Rapids Presby will join together Sunday, July 20-Friday, July 25th and will be camping at Northport Indian Mission Campground, and we will participate in Community Service in each of the following counties throughout the week: Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Antrim or some of them could take place just about anywhere. We will also engage in an activity close to that county in the afternoons. (i.e. Grow Benzie Community Service Work in the morning, and tubing the Platte River in the afternoon.) We will begin each day with breakfast, devotional, and end each day with dinner, faith formation and music.
